KPK Signals Naming New Suspect in e-ID Project Corruption Case (rayapos)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM – Agus Rahardjo, Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), has indicated that there will be a new suspect named in the investigation of corruption on the procurement of national electronic identification (e-ID) card project.

“Yes,” Agus said after inaugurating three KPK advisors at the KPK building in Jakarta on Thursday (7/6).

However, he can not confirm when the naming of the new suspect will be announced.

Previously, KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said that KPK is currently focusing on deepening the investigation on people from political background related to the e-ID card project.

“The in-depth clustering of political clusters has become an important part of the case, and in the course of the hearing, there are a series of events allegedly involving a number of actors from the political, bureaucratic and private sectors,” he said.

Agus is reluctant to answer from clusters which are related to the new suspect of the e-ID card case.

It only ensures that the e-ID card case will be resolved soon as it is a big case.

“So that we will finish soon, the people can see so if the name is complete there are new suspects others as well,” said Agus.

So far, KPK has examined Minister of Justice and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey, former Chairman of the PKB  Faction Group at the Commission II DPR RI Abdul Malik Haramain, and member of Commission II of DPR RI from PDI-P faction Arif Wibowo as a witness for suspect Andi Agustinus alias Andi Narogong.

The names are also mentioned in the KPK Prosecutor’s indictment as receiving the flow of procurement e-ID card project funds.

The defendant in this case is the former Director General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Irman and Director of Information Management of Population Administration (PIAK) Kemendagri Sugiharto. Irman has been sentenced for 7 years in prison while Sugiharto has been sentenced for 5 years in prison.

The KPK has also established businessman Andi Agustinus alias Andi Narogong, former Member of Commission II DPR RI 2009-2014 Hanura Party Fraction Miryam S Haryani, and a member of Commission II of the House of Representatives from Golangan Karya Party Faction Markus Nari as a suspect in the case.
