Authorities in Kuwait are stepping up efforts to issue the new-look electronic passports to all citizens.
Six specialized centres are issuing a total of 10,000 passports weekly – with a priority given to holder of passports which are nearing expiry.
A security source told Alanba newspaper that it takes an average 72 hours to issue an electronic passport and deliver it to its holders.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had earlier announced that non-digitalized passports will lose their validity on the June 30, 2018.
