Bangladesh – Smart Card to be Distributed in Ctg Tomorrow

The cardholders will get 22 types of services, including banking, TIN, driving license and passport.

 The formal distribution of machine-readable smart national identity (NID) cards will begin in the port city from tomorrow.

Chief Election Commissioner (EC) KM Nurul Huda will formally inaugurate the distribution of smart cards at a function at Chittagong circuit house at 11 am on Monday.

In the first phase, smart cards will be distributed to 600,000 residents of three wards under Kotwali and Double Mooring areas of Chittagong City Corporation.

Abdul Baten, divisional election commissioner, told BSS that the CEC will distribute the smart cards to distinguished personalities including current Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin and former mayors ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury and M Monjur Alam.

 The cardholders will get 22 types of services, including banking, TIN, driving license and passport.

To find out from where and when citizens can collect their smart cards, they can message “SC NID <existing national ID card number>” to 105 (without the quotes).
